Pass in 10+2 examination (science academic stream) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics. Or any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to the above examination.
Duration of the program
The course of study for B. Pharm. shall extend over a period of eight semesters (four academic years) and six semesters (three academic years) for lateral entry students and for D. Pharm. the duration of the course shall be for two academic years. The curricula and syllabus for the program shall be prescribed from time to time by Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.
Important subjects in pharmacy course:
1. Pharmaceutics (Study of the methods of formulation of various dosage forms like tablets, capsules, syrups etc.),
2. Pharmacology (Study of the effects of drugs to the body),
3. Medicinal Chemistry (Study of the chemical structure and derivatives of drugs),
4. Pharmacognosy (Study of the drugs derived from natural sources),
Along with these core subjects some allied subjects like Microbiology, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology etc. are also studied during the course.
